Loyd Ranch

The Loyd Ranch is situated just 7 miles north of the city of Laramie, Wyoming, off Howell Road. There are 1,550 deeded acres that also include 2.5 miles of the meandering Laramie River. Much of the acreage is irrigated and yields 200 tons of hay in a good year, as well as supplying plentiful grazing meadows for cattle herds.

Entire ranch (both northern and southern portions) 1,550+/- acres for $1,100,000

Northern portion 1,270+/- acres for $800,000

Southern Portion 280+/- acres for $300,000

West ¼ section of Northern portion: 160+/- acres for $200,000

Aside from sprawling across river bottom land, the Loyd Ranch also has a rich history behind it. The original house and barn are still the main homestead on the property, a prime opportunity for restoration, which adds more value to the property. The log house that still stands beside the river stood at Fort Sanders, and it was moved to the Loyd Ranch in 1883. However, it is thought that the log house might have actually originated earlier than Fort Sanders, having been built at Fort Halleck, Fort Sander’s predecessor. When Halleck was closed in 1866, the house was moved to Fort Sanders, then onto the Loyd Ranch. The house was lived in up until the mid-1990s.
The log horse barn, a wonderful 1800s structure, was also moved from Fort Sanders when the house was, and it still stands as well. The restoration of these buildings would be a worthwhile project for any history enthusiast.
The property has a well that is suitable for watering both people and livestock, and is wired for electricity, though an operable septic system would need to be installed.

The Laramie River flows through the western part of the ranch, offering gorgeous, lush wetlands as a habitat for waterfowl and the opportunity for catching an occasional large brown trout. Alongside the meandering river, there are abundant antelope and mule deer to roam the property.
